Joshua Hrisko Takes 1st Place for Oral Presentation in AMS Urban Environment Symposium
Posted on March 12, 2020 NOAA CESSRST Fellow Joshua Hrisko won first place for best oral presentation in the 15th annual Symposium on the Urban Environment at the American Meteorological Society Annual Meeting, January 16. His topic was “Quantifying the Heat Stored in Urban Environments Using Remote Sensing Technology.” The Manhattan resident is a 4th-year PhD candidate at City College of New York majoring in mechanical engineering.

Maria Tzortziou Named to GLIMR Satellite Science Team

Two NOAA-EPP CESSRST Scholars Receive Best Research Presentation Awards at NOAA NESDIS Annual CoRP Science Symposium
Posted on September 15, 2019 Two NOAA-EPP supported doctoral candidates received honors at the NOAA NESDIS Cooperative Research Program (CoRP) Science Symposium, held August 27 – 29 at the University of Maryland at College Park. Equisha Glenn, a doctoral candidate in civil engineering at City College of New York, won second prize for Best Oral Presentation and Suhey Ortiz Rosa, who is working toward a PhD in marine sciences at University of Puerto Rico at Mayaguez, won third prize for Best Poster.

NOAA CESSRST Fellow Will Help Map Pacific Ocean Seafloor Aboard NOAA Exploration Vessel Nautilus
Posted on October 3, 2018 ​Stephen Escarzaga will be part of the crew of the Exploration Vessel (E/V) Nautilus, a research vessel operated by the Ocean Exploration Trust. The internship opportunity is provided by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration Educational Partnership Program with Minority Serving Institution (NOAA-EPP-MSI) funding to the NOAA-Cooperative Science Center for Earth System Sciences and Remote Sensing Technologies (NOAA-CESSRST). UTEP is one of six consortium members of the NOAA CESSRST Center led by the City College of the City University of New York.
