Summer Bridge Program

Summer Bridge Program

Apply here - https://legacy2016.cessrst.org/apply/summer-bridge

Each summer, CESSRST brings together a diverse group of students from a variety of majors including engineering, science, and social science for an 8-week paid internship. Interns gain the opportunity to receive hands-on research training and experiential learning in NOAA-related sciences, attend workshops and seminars, and be mentored by a world-class cadre of CESSRST researchers and scientists.

Below is information about the Summer Bridge Program, along with the application process.

What is the Summer Bridge Program?
Summer Bridge is an 8-week internship that provides an opportunity for students to gain practical hands-on research experience in NOAA-related sciences and research themes while learning about possible future majors and careers with NOAA and other agencies/industries that align with NOAA’s mission:

"To understand and predict changes in climate, weather, ocean, and coasts, to share that knowledge and information with others, and to conserve and manage coastal and marine ecosystems and resources"

Summer Bridge interns will learn about engineering, science, and social science within these 4 areas of research: Coastal ResilienceAtmospheric HazardsWater Prediction and Ecosystem Services, and Social Science, and based on their interests, will be placed into a project. They will also learn about various fellowships and opportunities, including the CESSRST Fellowship, and gain the opportunity to be bridged into them.

Applications are now open for the 2022 Summer Bridge Program and will be reviewed as they come in. Students will be accepted on a rolling basis until all spots are filled or until May 15, 2022, which is the final deadline for submission.

The flyers below have additional information available.
