Lawrence Flynn received his PhD from the University of California, Davis in Applied Mathematics in 1987. He spent four years as an assistant professor in mathematics departments and four years as a contractor at NASA GSFC as a senior analyst in the Atmospheric and Chemistry Dynamics Branch. Larry joined NESDIS in 1996 and has been a research scientist for the last fourteen years. His duties include research and analysis for validation, algorithm development, and calibration of existing and next generation satellite-based ozone sensors.

About GSICS

The Global Space-based Inter-Calibration System (GSICS) is an international program to assure the comparability of satellite measurements taken at different times and locations by different instruments operated by different satellite agencies. Sponsored by the World Meteorological Organization and the Coordination Group for Meteorological Satellites, GSICS intercalibrates the instruments of the international constellation of operational low-earth-orbiting (LEO) and geostationary earth-orbiting (GEO) environmental satellites and ties these to common reference standards.
