Title: Comparing the spatial extents of tropical droughts and pluvials in observations, reanalysis, and CMIP5 models
Abstract: Extreme hydroclimate conditions (droughts and pluvials) exert significant impacts on human and natural systems in the tropics. (In particular, the maximum drought extents occur with El Niño conditions, while maximum pluvial extents occur with La Niña conditions.
