NOAA CESSRST Fellow Andrea Gomez Travels with CUNY Service Corps to Puerto Rico for Relief Efforts

Andrea Gomez, a NOAA CESSRST Doctoral Fellow, was among twenty-eight students from the City College of New York journeyed to Puerto Rico as part of the CUNY Service Corps - Puerto Rico initiative. 

Since its launch in 2013, CUNY Service Corps offers the university's students work experience with community-based organizations and government agencies. The program's goals are "For students to make a meaningful difference through service while gaining valuable real-world work experience, earning a wage, and where appropriate, receiving college credit" and "For communities and partners to realize concrete benefits as a result of CUNY Service Corps projects."  the Corps partnered with Governor Andrew Cuomo's New York Stands with Puerto Rico Recovery and Rebuilding Effort for its work in Puerto Rico.
