NOAA-CESSRST at San Diego homes at the Center for Climate and Sustainability Studies (C2S2), which is an Area of Excellence at the San Diego State University, founded by four departments: Biology, Mathematics and Statistics, Geography, and Anthropology.
CESSRST-SDSU faculty, post-doctoral fellows, and graduate students are mainly involved in Theme IV (Ecosystem and Surface Fluxes) and Theme II (Atmospheric Hazards). We are contributing to these themes in the following research topics: global biogeochemical cycles, global climate data analysis, hydrology and land cover, climate assessment and greenhouse gases, ecosystem functions such as carbon fluxes and water balances, California storms and atmospheric river, and super-ensemble season-to-subseason weather forecasting method for NOAA operations. Areas of research include the Arctic, California, and American Samoa and include land and coastal ocean ecosystems.
